12 metres high in Oran Square.

The army cleared away the lanterns.

Opening ceremony of the Oran International Film Festival, Algeria. The brief: a 12-metre-high Hallucine inflatable screen, right in the heart of the public square. The problem — the festive lanterns, suspended across the square for the event, hang too low to allow the structure to pass through.

The challenge

12 metres high, with lanterns that are too low

The Oran International Film Festival, held annually, attracts leading figures from the Arab and international film industries. For the opening ceremony, the organisers are planning a large-scale screening in the main square — a symbol of unity and maximum visibility.

Our 12-metre-high windscreen is designed for this purpose. However, when it came to setting it up, we discovered that the strings of traditional lanterns, hung across the square for the festival, were hanging about 8 metres above the ground. It was impossible to erect the windscreen without tearing them down.

The solution

The customer calls the army

Rather than scaling back the scale of the screening, the festival organiser took a dramatic decision: he called in the army to clear the square and take down the lanterns all around the screen.

Within a few hours, the military had taken down the decorations, secured the area, and allowed us to set up our 12-metre screen. The screening took place that very evening, at the scheduled time, in front of thousands of spectators.

No other open-air cinema in Algeria has achieved this level of institutional support. Our screen wasn’t just erected — it was significant enough to prompt the redevelopment of a town square.

The result

An opening that left its mark on the festival

The opening screening went off without a hitch in front of the Oran audience and festival guests. The image of this giant screen erected right in the middle of the square became one of the most shared images of the festival.

This project illustrates what sets our projects apart: we don’t just deliver a product; we deliver an impossible vision. And when the client has to call in the army to make it happen, it’s because they believe in it just as much as we do.

Why it’s unique

No other manufacturer would do that

When a client calls in the army to help with your installation, it’s not just for the sake of it — it’s because they have confidence in the result. And that confidence is built on 30 years of incident-free screenings, screens that can be set up in under an hour, and support that never lets you down during an event.

Our competitors make screens. We create the conditions in which clients are willing to take a risk to make the screening happen — because they know we’ll do our bit.

Can't screen it at home?
